ABOUT FMAAA / MISSION

The Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging's mission is to provide leadership in addressing issues that relate to older Californians; to develop community-based systems of care that provide services which support independence within California's interdependent society, and which protect the quality of life of older persons and persons with functional impairments; and to promote citizen involvement in the planning and delivery of service.

The role of the agency is to:

  • Establish and coordinate an integrated comprehensive community based system of care for older adults in Fresno and Madera counties;

  • Target services towards individuals who have low-income, are minorities, live in rural areas, and/or have functional impairments;

  • Provide nutrition and supportive services to assure maximum independence and dignity at home for older adults in order to prevent premature institutionalization;

  • Educate the community on the issue of elder abuse and how it might be prevented; and

  • Provide opportunities for older adults to demonstrate their commitment to improving their communities.
