The Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging (FMAAA) reminds older adults to be prepared in case of a power outage. The recent energy crisis in our state and the possibility of ongoing rolling blackouts may cause a temporary loss of electrical power.

The FMAAA is concerned about your health and safety, especially in case of power interruption. With the summer months and warmer weather approaching, the risk for dehydration and heat illnesses among older adults and individuals with disabilities is high. Please click on the links above to review the Energy Crisis Safety Fact Sheet and Summer Safety Tips.

Finally, the FMAAA encourages all older adults to establish a plan of action should a rolling blackout or extended power outage occur in your area. The Preparing for an Emergency link to the right of this page provides a checklist to help you prepare your plan.  The Cooling Centers link above lists places you can go to escape the heat.. If you have any questions or need assistance with planning, please contact our Senior Information & Assistance Program at 600-4405 or 1-800-510-2020.
