The Fresno-Madera Area Agency
on Aging (FMAAA) is reminding seniors to be prepared in case
of a power outage. The recent energy crisis in our state and
the possibility of ongoing rolling blackouts may cause a temporary
loss of electrical power.
The FMAAA is concerned about your health and safety, especially
in case of power interruption. With the summer months and
warmer weather approaching, the risk for dehydration and heat
illnesses among seniors and individuals with disabilities
is high. Please click on the links above to review the "Energy Crisis Safety Fact Sheet" and "Summer Safety Tips."
Finally, we are encouraging all seniors to establish a plan
of action should a rolling blackout or extended power outage
occur in your area. Information on the nearest "cool
shelter" will be available upon request. If you have
any questions or need assistance with planning, please contact
our Senior Information & Assistance Program at 453-4405
or 1-800-510-2020.
