SERVICES

It is imperative that the FMAAA address and balance the competing interests and needs within PSA 14, given limited resources that must be used most efficiently and effectively. The FMAAA is committed to charting a new course for developing a seamless senior services network to enhance services through increased communication and coordination.

» Title III B Supportive Services

As we begin the 21st Century and build a community based system of care (CBSC), the focus of serving the whole person necessitates a change in focus from Information & Assistance to case management. Outreach, information and assistance, and transportation all play important roles in serving the whole person and connecting them with the most appropriate plan for their needs. [FMAAA Resource Directory]

» Title III C Nutrition Services

With over 300,000 Congregate Meals and approximately 600,000 Home-Delivered Meals served annually throughout Fresno and Madera counties, nutritional services remain a vital service of the FMAAA.

» Title III E Family Caregiver Support Programs

Providing informal care for a family member or friend often means physical exhaustion, mental strain and having no time to recover from either one. Obviously, service expansion is critical for individuals to prevent the extreme emotional and physical fatigue caused from being a 24-hour caregiver. Also of critical importance is the need for public information and outreach, particularly in rural areas where many caregivers have limited or no knowledge of the available services.

» Title V Senior Community Service Employment Program

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is designed to provide useful community service while assisting participants with updating or developing the skills they need to obtain a job in their community. Participants generally work 20 hours per week at a community agency for which they receive the current minimum wage.

» Other Services

The FMAAA provides both direct services and funding for such services as, Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP), Linkages, Preventive Health (Title III D), Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP), Ombudsman (Title VII), Elder Abuse Prevention Services (Title VII), and Alzheimer's Day Care Resource Centers (ADCRC).

» MSSP

MSSP is a Medi-Cal case management program that provides assistance to the frail elderly in order for them to remain in their own homes, in a familiar and comfortable setting, for as long as possible. [Notice of Privacy Practice]

» Linkages

The purpose of the Linkages Program is to prevent premature or inappropriate institutionalization of frail elderly and functionally impaired adults, 18 years of age or older, by providing case management as well as comprehensive information and assistance services.
