Family Caregiver Support Program

The Family Caregiver Support Program provides free support services and resources for unpaid caregivers. A trained case manager will explore options and courses of action for caregivers by identifying their:

  • Willingness to provide care
  • Duration and frequency preferences
  • Caregiving abilities
  • Physical health
  • Psychological health
  • Social support
  • Caregiver training and educational needs
  • Financial resources related to caregiving
  • Strengths and weaknesses within the immediate caregiving environment

Services offered through the Family Caregiver Support Program provide caregivers with practical tools to help reduce stress and avoid burnout.

The Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging administers the Family Caregiver Support Program through a grant at Valley Caregiver Resource Center, offering an array of services tailored to each caregiver’s unique needs. These services include support groups, educational classes and training, individual counseling, legal consultations, respite assistance, and the OASIS, adult day program.
